I tried UF, but Tierazon keeps calling me back. I'm impressed by the variety & power of images it can produce. Sometimes the fractal you are generating just have rough edges :(ĭespite it's limitations (you can't adjust the selection rectangle for one), I like Tierazon. I tried adjusting a few settings but I still get the rough edges and haven't found a way around it yet.

All of the above are free which is a large part of their appeal.ĭo you know how to render the images in Tierazon so that they have smoother edges? I did try using anti-aliasing but it renders the image much smaller than what the houtput should be (ie. The only problem is that it takes a while to work through all the options and see what looks best. This is compensated for by the various colouring algorithms provided. Worst thing is that, as far as I know you can't stick in your own colour gradient. Best thing about Tierazon is that you can input your own formulae. Chaoscope is good for solid renders / images that have a 3D quality. Thanks, blinks! I like Sterlingware too, cmiper! If not, go to and grab the programmer libraries.

You should be able to do a search for it on your machine (if you're not running Windows you're out of luck) because it comes with a WinXP install. The glut32.dll file is one related to OpenGL libraries. * I have since found the glut32.dll file.checking out now thanks!

I get the same message but am interested in trying the program out. I get the error message - "glut32.dll is missing" after unzipping the file. The main reason I use it is because I wrote it, so I can try out new things fairly easily. The color control and more importantly, the documentation is a little spotty. It is somewhat similar to XaoS in that it does realtime zooming of both Mandelbrot and Julia sets, however the method used to provide this is a little different - it uses OpenGL.

You can download a copy at the above link. I have been using a program of my own creation (for windows) called Mandel Zoom. My favorites are Apophysis, Ultra Fractal and Vichera.Ĭome on guys! You can trust me, hehe.
#Ultra fractal vs apophysis software#
Hello! I use three or four software programs to create fractals. Maybe one day Apophysis will add support for Chaotica's. Sorry for the negative answer but I hope I've given a good overview of why it's not possible, at least not right now. I'm not sure how he did it in UF but I doubt very much that it was fast/efficient, which is probably why it was made into its own program in the end. Somehow Mark Townsend managed it, and he later went on to write Apophysis. Some historical info: UltraFractal generally uses a different rendering paradigm to flam3 (escape time instead of IFS), which is what led the flam3 co-author Erik Reckase to bet Mark Townsend that he couldn't make a flam3 rendering formula for UF. However, it's not possible to render IFS efficiently using this method, except in some special cases.īesides these issues, Chaotica also supports some stuff Apophysis doesn't (such as for example being able to use any transform as normal, pre or post in a flam3 transform), and so would not be possible to save in the Apophysis file format.

UltraFractal is based on a more straightforward rendering algorithm based on escape time analysis, which allows you to "ask for any pixel's colour" independently of any other, which makes it really easy to render with low memory usage. in this way an image appears uniformly over time (so the whole image needs to be stored in memory and worked with as a whole). The short answer is no, because of algorithmic and file format differences, Chaotica params can't be used with Apophysis or UltraFractal.Ĭhaotica/Apophysis/flam3 use a method called IFS (iterated function system) to render images, in which points jump around over the image randomly, accumulating some colour as they go.
